Dear Parents/Guardians of the JRS CDCA Family,

My name is Mario Turner and I want to welcome you to 3rd grade! Third grade is an exciting time as children come upon new adventures in learning.  During this important year of transitions, I will provide an environment where your scholar will gain new skills. I understand the importance of making your child’s learning experience a fun and exciting one, and I will work hard to instill a love of learning.  I plan to engage your child in various activities to include experiments as we build on daily successes.  I expect to reach and teach each scholar while he progresses at his own rate, acquiring skills they are developmentally ready to learn. As a graduate of Calhoun College, I felt successful, and it drove me to continue my education at Athens State University. At Athens State University,  I am a member of Men of Kennis that is equipping us to be men of color that are knowledgeable, compassionate, and aware of developmentally appropriate practices to help children build a secure foundation for future growth and development.

We will do this together and here are some ways you can help:

Celebrate your scholar’s success, no matter how small it may seem. Why? This will keep them enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work!  Read to and with your child daily. The more your scholar is exposed to language, the easier it will be for him to incorporate new skills in reading and writing in the classroom. As a father of a six-year-old, I practice these ways to support my daughter’s education.

I am looking forward to working with your scholar this year and helping him to achieve his full potential.
