Hello, I am Kanika Kincey, and I am thrilled to be a part of the JRS Child Development Center and Academy and even more thrilled to be teaching 1st grade.
I am originally from Toledo, Ohio but when I joined the United States Army in 2002, I was able to travel and see many different parts of the world. I enjoyed my time serving my country and was blessed to meet my husband of 17 years. I have 5 wonderful children, 4 boys, and 1 girl.
I have always had a passion for working with children. I have been a Homework Lab Tutor for the Child Youth and Services Program at Fort Polk Army Base, a Military Base Site Coordinator at Fort Polk Army Base for LAVCA (Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy), and a Kindergarten Educational Aid for the Department of Defense in Ramstein, Germany. In 2016, my husband retired and we made the decision to settle in Alabama.
Before becoming a first-grade teacher, I was a CAJA (Court Appointed Child Advocate ) volunteer for Madison County. I also served as a volunteer in Colorado Springs, Co as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate). My goal has always been to serve the needs of children, whether I am volunteering or on a salary. The needs of children always come first for me. I am excited to take on this new role as the 1st-grade teacher. I believe a good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.
